Over-Righteous: Can a Christian Become Over-Wise?

Over-Righteous: Can a Christian Become Over-Wise?

If a voice calls you over-righteous in your heart when you play a wise role in a tough circumstance, don’t feel bad because your reward is heaven.

Today’s message explains how Ecclesiastes chapter 7 verse 15 to 17 can confuse you about the practice of righteousness.

“All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.

Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself? {destroy…: Heb. be desolate?}

Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time? {before…: Heb. not in thy time?}” (kjv)

The Context of Book of Ecclesiastes

Remember the rule of reading the bible which involves understanding the concept of the writer, the content and context.

The book of Ecclesiastes is completely a personal deduction of King Solomon about the kind of life he lived. It’s full of regrets.

There is no single verse in this book that God neither speaks nor give instruction to king Solomon. So, you have to be very careful when reading the book.

When you test some of the expressions with the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, you will notice that some of king Solomon’s expression in the book of Ecclesiastes failed woefully.

The first part of verse 15 gives us an understanding that verse 16 and 17 are product of “his days of vanity”.

What are King Solomon days of vanity?

The days he enjoyed life without God’s direction. The days he spent without obeying the instructions of the LORD. The days his wives and concubines turned his heart away from the LORD.

The book of First King chapter 11 verse 1 and 2 : “But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites-from the nations of whom the LORD had said to the children of Israel, “You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love.”

Can I Obey the King’s instruction?

No Christian is expected to yield to his advice in Ecclesiastes chapter 7 verse 16 and 17: “Be not righteous over much…. Be not over much wicked…”

King Solomon is not speaking proverbially in verse 15, he shared the experience of a just man who die speaking the truth.

And in his own opinion (not led by God); in verse 16, he advised his audience to sit on the fence when it comes to the issue of speaking (or acting) the truth.

In verse 17, he admonished his audience to be wicked but no too much wickedness. For instance, when someone embarrass you treat his mess!

Verse 16 and 17 give us a clear picture of the “life of vanity” king Solomon lived. A life of a little righteousness and a little wickedness.

Does Jesus Have Any Reference to Over-Righteous?

  1. Jesus teaches us to be righteous in all the days of our life. He never mentioned over-righteousness, because there is nothing of such. If you are controlled by the Holy Spirit, you cannot be over-righteous. Righteousness is a lifestyle in Christ.

Jesus says: “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)

So, don’t feel bad when you are hurt or embarrassed for the sake of righteousness.

  1. Jesus never encouraged any form of wickedness for the Christians. Wickedness of any measure is a sin.

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.” (Mark 7:21-23)

Writer of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes contradicts himself

I always feel bad when I read the latter end of King Solomon’s life. He lived a contradictory life. Can you believe someone who wrote against wickedness in his book of Proverbs can write in support of such act latter in his life?

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.” (Proverbs 10:2)

No wonder the end of king Solomon was not as glorious as his early days.

“…And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father… And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom…” (Please read 1King chapter 11)

Are All Books Scriptures From the LORD?

Not all collections in the Bible are Scriptures from the LORD. The 66 books were collated by men, it might shock you to know that there are many more Scriptures not found anymore. Though, the few we have is enough for us with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Paul’s statement to Timothy was recorded in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

Paul’s definition of scripture is; God’s message written by servants of God. Perfect examples are all the book of the Prophets. It might shock you to know that not all the statements of Paul must be obeyed. You have to sieve his letters to separate God’s message and his own personal opinion.

For instance, 1Corinthians 7:6 “But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment…” Others are: 1Cor 7:12,25; 2Cor 8:8; 11:17

Note: Paul never knew which books would be collated to make up the 66 books we read today as Bible.

So, Paul’s statement in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 does not authorise you to believe and obey king Solomon’s statement in Ecclesiastes 7:15-17 because it is not an inspiration from God, it is not a profitable doctrine and to make matters worse it was not for instruction in righteousness.

Finally, the instructions you are expected to obey in the Bible are God’s speech in the Old and New Testaments. Messages of Jesus in the New Testament. Direct messages of God through the disciples. Some selected messages of God through Paul.

You are not obliged to obey other books and letters without direct message of God. But they are useful to learn from the writers. For instance, I learnt from king Solomon that my wealth should be under the control of Jesus Christ and not by the beauties of life, parties, drinks or women…

Familiar Spirit: How Can Christian Defeat Domestic Spirit?

Familiar Spirit: How Can Christian Defeat Domestic Spirit?

Familiar spirit is a ministering spirit designated to help someone through the influence of dark powers. This spirit is the Devil’s version of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives counsel and helps someone without harm, but familiar spirit helps and hurt his client later on.

I put up this message today through the help of the Holy Spirit because many Christians are still under the torments of familiar spirit. I would expose the secret of familiar spirit and how Christians can be free from the terrible influence.

What help does this household spirit gives?

  1. It helps the witches and the sorcerer in their crafty business. For instance; the manipulation of Samuel’s image and voice when king Saul sought to hear from the dead.
    (First Samuel chapter 28)
  2. Familiar spirit assists the false prophets and pastors to predict the future of their members (divination).

The Cause of Familiar Spirit to Your Life?

When I gave my life to Jesus Christ and defeated the Devil’s confrontation through the Blood of Jesus, I thought that was all. My life became well improved but sometimes I still go through some struggles which I later identified the source to be the familiar spirit. I want to share some sources through which familiar spirit could get to you:

  1. Through your parents: If your parents had carried you to a witch doctor or any demonic consultant for help or dedicated you to the evil spirit…
  2. Visiting your false prophet (divination): If you have visited a false prophet to ask about your future or any help in a desperate way…
  3. Through exposure to demonic materials or wears: Ouija board, dark world materials, soap/oil/handkerchief/miracle water from false Pastors or Prophets…
  4. Joining the nice occult group: for instance, the white witches, churches with witchcraft doctrines and so on.
  5. Relationship with the Astrologers either offline or through the internet…
  6. Familiar spirit can move from one generation of your family to another.

How Does a Familiar Spirit Work?

Familiar spirit is used to your spirit and soul. It connects you to the kingdom of Devil. When you don’t have the Holy Spirit, it takes the full control of your life. The domestic spirit looks very friendly to you because it communicates unique information to you and answers your errands. His consolation is that when you die, you’ll go to hell.

But the day you give your life to Jesus and ask for the invitation of the Holy Spirit into you…a battle line is drawn!!

Yes, the familiar spirit would vacate your heart for the Holy Spirit to come in, but any slightest slackness from you is an opportunity for a strike.

Note: Giving your life to Jesus does not mean that the LORD would spoon-feed you. “But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)

7 Ways You Can be Pulled Down

The familiar spirit is capable of doing the following:

    1. When you keep seeing the dead familiar people
    2. Hallucination through drugs or alcohol
    3. Frightening dreams or visions with consistent pattern of familiar places related to your old school, old parent’s house or village, group of dreadful people, long chase by thugs and the likes
    4. Thoughtful negative voices threatening your job, family and life.
    5. Exaggerating your challenges to sow seeds of bitterness into you.
    6. Always refer you to your friends and relatives doing better than you to make you feel uncomfortable with God.
    7. Fear, fear, fear, everything, everywhere, you are always afraid!

Your heart is the only place the familiar spirit can use to make an impact, thus, secure your heart with the word of GOD.

10 Ways to Defeat Familiar Spirit

This domestic spirit is not a respecter of your status as a Christian. He is not bothered if you are devoted or full of anointing. He waits patiently for an opportunity to remind you of your past. Some steps to take to become victorious include:

  1. Don’t believe the voice of condemnation.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2Corinthian 5:17)

  1. Melt every fear with the hopeful and faithful word of GOD.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2Timothy 1:7)

  1. Give your whole heart to the LORD. So, don’t think carelessly!
  2. If your heart is full of fear or worries, you would have bad dreams, so ease your heart with good gospel music before going to bed.
  3. Miracle can’t stop it, so confront familiar spirit by sharply rebuking his familiar talks or images.
  4. Don’t give room to digest and analyse the thoughts from your familiar spirit. It may go big and get you depressed!
  5. Read more passages in the Bible and less of your old dairies.
  6. Stay away from close associates that gets you depressed with their toxic words.
  7. Be cautious and not conscious to sin.
  8. Your technical know-how cannot stop the familiar spirit, but your trust in Jesus every moment of your life is the golden bullet!

Familiar spirit is a demon attached to an individual to serve as a household servant. Christians suffering from the influence of this domestic spirit can receive permanent victory through faith and discipline on the path of righteousness. I have overcome the household spirit, so you can!

Fear of Coronavirus: What should the Christians do?

Fear of Coronavirus: What should the Christians do?

Coronavirus is an element of reminder to let you know that the control of the world is not in the hands of man or any form of technology! The fear of coronavirus is presently all over the world. The scientists are perplexed, the economic experts are fidgeting and the doctors are dying. Should the Christians get collapsed as well? No!!

I received three messages from the LORD in the beginning of year 2020. And my heart stroked when I heard the description given to COVID-19 by the US President: “Coronavirus is blindsided….”

The LORD told me that there would be a high incidence of blindfoldedness in the world this year.

I didn’t bother to ask God questions, but I told people close to me to be at alert. Obviously, the world is currently going through a dark time!

Today’s message will give an update of coronavirus and how the Christians can be safe from this disease.

Current Pandemic brings Fear of Coronavirus

The outbreak of this virus was thought to have originated in a seafood market where wildlife was sold illegally in China’s Wuhan city around December 2019.

The global report as at 6th April 2022 shows that 494,286,073 cases of Coronavirus exist in 225 countries across the world, 6,184,299 deaths and 429,921,167 lucky people recovered from the disease.

The scientific code for coronavirus is COVID-19. covid19

Symptoms of COVID-19

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans.

Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Symptoms can show up within 2 to 14 days of contact to the viral infection while some infected people show no symptomatic signs (they are called carriers).

Preventive Measures to Avoid Contacting Coronavirus

Despite the fear of coronavirus, there is currently no vaccine or drug to cure it. And it is thought to spread through the droplets of an infected person. The following preventive measures are essential for you:

1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or rub with hand sanitiser.

2. Avoid close contact with the sick.

3. If your community is affected then keep a distance of 2 meters from the next person.

4. Disinfect touched surfaces such as; tables, doorknobs, toilets, and faucets frequently.

5. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze and dispose the used tissue immediately.

Effect of Coronavirus on the World Economy

The fear of coronavirus is having a profound and serious impact on the global economy and has sent policymakers looking for ways to respond.

The American economy is facing a plunge into uncharted waters. Economists say there is little doubt that the nation is headed into a recession because of the coronavirus pandemic, with businesses shutting down and Americans being shut in. But it is harder to foresee the bottom and how long it will take to climb back.

Globally, the coronavirus shock is severe even compared to the Great Financial Crisis in 2007–08.

UNCTAD, the UN trade agency, warned of a slowdown of global growth to under 2% this year, effectively wiping $1 trillion off the value of the world economy.

Globally, the airline industry is set to lose $29bn, according to the International Air Transportation Association.

The virus could affect up to 42 percent of China’s economy, according to Standard Chartered.

What should Christians do during this dark time?

Christians must not be afraid of this virus because the covenant of God is available for us. “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.” (Psalm 91:7)

The best act for you in this dark time is to study the significance of Covid-19!

1. The pandemic nature should be a reminder to you that certainly this world would have an end-time as prophesied by our Lord Jesus Christ.

“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” (Matthew 24:7)

2. Its uncontrollable widespread across the world shows that very soon people that put their trust in the world leaders and things of this world shall lose forever.

So, always put your trust in the LORD.

As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” (2 Samuel 22:31)

3. Covid-19 is a test of faith. How many Christians are currently peaceful and what number had fear…? Jesus asked in Luke chapter 18 verse 8:

“…Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

4. The fear of coronavirus substantiates the saying: “Cleanliness is next to godliness.” The LORD is clean and He wants us to be clean as well. This virus had forced many to be hygienic

“And they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the unholy, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.” (Ezekiel 44:23)

5. The solutions of the world leaders to curtail the viral spread include; travel ban and lockdown of territories. It’s a terrible situation for the citizens and I wonder how it would be for those that won’t be raptured during the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Don’t fear the virus, but fear the terrible occurrence that would take place when the elect is raptured. This pandemic is a call to check your stand in Christ.

Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” (1Corinthians 10:12)

The fear of coronavirus is everywhere because its more than the usual flu, it kills people and affects the world economy and freedom! Covid-19 is a new dreadful virus that caught all the world experts unaware and spreading across the world.

Christians are not expected to be scared of this virus, but to be sensitive to the indirect messages of the pandemic. “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” (Matthew 16:27)

You will be a victor during this hard time in Jesus name.

Struggling with Guilt? 9 Facts that can Deliver you!

Struggling with Guilt? 9 Facts that can Deliver you!

Seven out of ten new Christians struggle with the emotion of guilt, doubting if all their past terrible sins were forgiven. I once suffered such as well, but I thank God for His word that saved me from the sense of guilt.

Devil is not happy when you give your life to the LORD through Jesus Christ. He feels bitter when you confess your sins to the LORD. So, one of his tactics is to trouble your new mind with bias and sense of guilt. He makes you feel it is too real to be true for those past terrible sins to be forgiven by the LORD. Today’s message will strength your heart in Jesus name.

9 Bible Verses to Recite when Guilt Comes

1. When you obey the commandments of Jesus and you walk on the path of righteousness then reply any voice of guilt with this bible verse: Romans chapter 8 verse 1:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

2. If you find yourself in a sin you confessed the previous day, don’t allow guilt to discourage you from the Christian race. Don’t give-up but ask God for forgiveness and the divine Power to overcome temptation.

Recite first John chapter 1 verse 9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

3. When the peace of your salvation is threatened by challenges or devil told you that a particular sin is bind to you forever. Don’t be depressed by the guilt, but claim your right to spiritual freedom.

Remember the prophetic message of the Psalmist: Psalm 103 verse 12: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

4. The plan of God is not to condemn you but to give you the grace to overcome a guilty life. When the thought of condemnation comes when you struggle with a temptation, please read John chapter 3 verse 17:

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

5. Shortly after given my life to the LORD, the thoughts of my old life kept on hunting me, but I refused to feel guilty of changing my bad lifestyle. I always recite second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

6. When you make mistakes and thoughts like; “you can never be free from sin” threatens your peace in Jesus Christ, then the powerful verse you need is Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 21:

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

7. Don’t feel guilty because you can’t afford the money your pastor told you to drop for blessing your salvation in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians chapter 1 verse 7 says:

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”

8. When you fall many times, please don’t lose your focus in the salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. The LORD is ready to reason with you. Isaiah chapter 1 verse 18 says:

“‘Come now, and let us reason together,’” says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’”

The outcome of my reasoning with the LORD gave me the strength to stop sinning. Don’t give-up to condemnation because you can be free from those disturbing thoughts.

9. Devil won’t like you if you are an active Christian. When he comes to whisper to you that the LORD had not forgotten your past sins. Tell him with all boldness that he is a liar!

Hebrews chapter 8 verse 12 says: “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

When the wind of guilt blows to your heart while you are serving God, don’t feel bad. It’s the work of the devil, he wants to discourage you from pressing hard on the rough path of righteousness. Don’t be passive with thoughts of condemnation but respond with the powerful word of God in the Bible.

Spiritual Burnout: 10 ways to Overcome the feeling to quit!

Spiritual Burnout: 10 ways to Overcome the feeling to quit!

Spiritual burnout occurs when the fierce fire to please God goes off due to the Christian’s exposure to the wind of overzealous spiritual stress. It is a terrible situation that must be handled carefully when the signal starts to manifest.

Today’s message about spiritual burnout is for the servants of God and the disciples of Jesus who give their strength and resources for the spread of the Gospel.

Barna Research Group made press release in 2017 and reports that one in three American Pastors is on the verge of burnout. This troubling number revealed that nearly half of the Pastors face relational risks in their marriages, families and friendships.

Pentecostal Theology Group posted a survey on Pastors that:

33% felt burned out within their first five years of ministry.

40% of pastors and 47% of spouses are suffering from burnout, frantic schedules, and/or unrealistic expectations.

45% of pastors say that they’ve experienced depression or burnout to the extent that they needed to take a leave of absence from ministry.

1,500 pastors leave their ministries each month due to burnout, conflict, or moral failure.

These statistics scare me so much that I think it is important we encourage ourselves in Christ. The level of faith in our generation must not be a disappointment to the Lord. Jesus’ question in Luke 18:8 is a serious concern: “…Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

Seven Spiritual Burnout Signals to Avoid?

1. Spiritual strain; you feel incapable to play your spiritual roles

2. Feeling depressed; tired of everything about Jesus

3. You don’t feel like participating in public evangelism anymore

4. Spiritual disappointment; you doubt God just because something unwanted happened to you.

5. Feeling hopeless; when your faith level is diminishing.

6. Spiritual disconnection; when your time for personal fellowship with God is scheduled for something else.

7. Inability to concentrate; takes you too long to connect your mind to God and your spiritual roles.

What are the Causes of Spiritual Burnout?

Spiritual burnout is the result of overwhelming duties you admit to place on yourself which you cannot bear the weight anymore. Some causes include:

1. A long period of effort at a particular task; when you do the same thing at the same time at same place using the same church doctrine…

2. Carrying too many burdens; Only you want to help everyone that comes your way with your strength just like the blunder of Moses.

3. Vigorous sourcing for a million dollars to feed a million people.

4. Not asking for God’s wisdom and direction to handle the cases of people around you – the blunder of self-reliance!

5. Pleasing everyone by sacrificing your sleep, poor nourishment of your body, extending your schedules, and loving your neighbours more than yourself could put you into terrible burnout.

10 Effects of Spiritual Meltdown

1. Spiritual coldness

2. Separation from the LORD

3. Backsliding

4. High risk of becoming an Atheist

5. Spiritual status of lukewarmness

6. Resolves to misconception of the scriptures

7. A mere church goer

8. Finding it easy to commit sin without restrain

9. Running away from church or renouncing evangelism

10. The Gospel of Jesus looks strange and unwanted!

How to Overcome Spiritual Burnout

A Christian must not get overworked to the point of burnout, but if you noticed this stage in your life then the following points would restore you:

1. Don’t love your neighbour more than yourself. Jesus says: “…You shall love your neighbour as yourself…” (Matthew 22:39)

2. Don’t act like Mr. Know all; Always ask for directions from the Lord. The Holy Spirit is there for you. Not all things are profitable! You would hit the wall of frustration without the leading of the Holy Spirit.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” (John 16:13)

3. Always observe sabbath; Find time to sleep well and burnout would not trouble you. You are a human and not GOD (who don’t rest). The deep sleep of Jesus in the storm was a clear indication that our body needs rest after ministration. (Matthew 8:24)

Though, I was a culprit to murdering my rest, but when I noticed it drains me and gets me weaker than my age. I knew if I continue the habit of missing my sleep, I may die young. I tried to increase my sleep from 3 to 5 hours daily. I made up my mind to still improve better…

4. Monotonous way of doing things brings boredom, so practice holy dynamism. For instance, Jesus did not restrict His ministration to the temple only, He ministered in the market, at the sea chore, on the mountain and so on. Thus, follow the example of Jesus and you won’t burnout.

5. Don’t put the burden of people on yourself but on God.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

6. Ministration can take your whole day but it’s not good for you. Create time for prayers and Bible Study like Jesus did when on earth.

My experience about this point is not funny; most times when I am through with the offline and online ministration, I became worn-out to the point of negative impact on my brain… But I have learnt my lesson to always take the ministration easy and find time for refill of anointing…

7. Stop counting your efforts or money you put for the progress of the Gospel. (Luke 18:11-14)

8. Delegate some tasks to trusted Christians who share the same vision with you.

9. Any spiritual stress in me melts away when I listen to inspirational or worship songs. So, it would work for you as well because music is life in Heaven. Don’t joke with your MP3 Player!

10. Don’t prove to be over-confidence when temptation knocks on the door of your heart, always respond with the word of God and flee!

Spiritual burnout is a terrible condition that pulls people away from God. It is destructive and without respect for any Christian. You won’t experience such if you always seek God’s direction in all your actions. Put all burdens on God and enjoy your sabbath.
