Christian Disciple: 10 Helpful Steps Towards Discipleship!

Christian Disciple: 10 Helpful Steps Towards Discipleship!

Christian disciple is a status that involves your readiness to pay a huge price to discipline yourself to behave like Jesus Christ and follow His command in all circumstances of your life.

There is a strange error in our generation whereby there are many ‘Christian church goers’ but fewer Christian disciples. This article will be an eye-opener to the process of Christian discipleship and help you to know the right steps to take to become a Christian disciple that pleases the LORD.

7 Interesting Quotes on Christian Disciple

1. “The Christian life is the discipled life and the discipling life.”

― Mark Dever

2. “To be a disciple is to be committed to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and committed to following Him every day. To be a disciple is also to be disciplined in our bodies, minds, and souls.”

― Billy Graham

3. “Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ.”

 ― Dietrich Bonhoeffer

4. “Until you have given up yourself to Him you will not have a real self…”

 –C.S. Lewis

5. “Discipleship entails a life of total self-denial, a humble disposition towards others, a whole-hearted devotion to the Lord alone, a willingness to obey His commands in everything, an eagerness to sense Him even in His absence, and a motivation that comes from knowing He is well pleased.”

– John McArthur

6. “Discipleship isn’t a program or an event; it’s a way of life. It’s not for a limited time, but for our whole life. Discipleship isn’t for beginners alone; it’s for all believers for every day of their life.”

―Bill Hull

7. “Discipleship is not an option. Jesus says that if anyone would come after me, he must follow me.”

Tim Keller

What is the Meaning of Christian Discipleship?

Christian discipleship is an active spiritual training of a genuine Christian who is ready to obey ALL teachings of Jesus Christ and to submit to ALL instructions given by the Holy Spirit so you can be like Jesus Christ.

It’s a lifestyle that involves comparing your thoughts, feelings and actions with the Word of God and His Revelations to you.

A Christian disciple is a God-fearing person who studies the Bible daily, obey the commandments of the LORD through Jesus Christ and prays to God consistently.

Followers of Jesus Christ love God unconditionally and the people around them such that they do everything to share the Gospel of Salvation.

Christian discipleship means Christian disciple obeying teachings of Jesus Christ through the tutoring of the Holy Spirit to become like Jesus Christ!

4 Major Cost to Become a Christian Disciple

“Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, “if anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”

“And whoever does not bear his cross and comes after Me cannot be My disciple.”

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it… “lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, “saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish…”

“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” (Luke Chapter 14:25-33)

Hmm, from Jesus’ statement above it shows that it is possible to start a Christian race and not finish well if such Christian disciple did not count the cost involved. This implies that Salvation is free, but Discipleship is not!

Cost 1: Don’t love anyone or yourself more than Jesus Christ!

The First Love in your life must be for the LORD. So, Jehovah should be the love of your life and any other love you have must fall under the First Love. No one, not yourself and nothing in your life must you take above your love for the LORD.

Cost 2: Take Responsibility for your tasks in life!

A Christian disciple does not give excuse, procrastinate, or expect Jesus Christ to come and do your own tasks. Followers of Jesus Christ are not lazy so you must bear your cross daily.

You don’t commit deliberate sins and tell God to overlook them or to blame the devil for your carelessness.

Cost 3: Follow Jesus Christ Every day!

You cannot make any independent decision without the approval of the LORD. So, every step you take and every action you do must be according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

You don’t have the freedom to follow popular worldly styles or church doctrines and regulations which cannot be found in Jesus’s teachings. You won’t obey any ‘brilliant advice’ that contradicts the counsel of the Holy Spirit.

Cost 4: Give All Your Possession to the Poor!

Christian disciple is not a tithe giver, you must be ready to share your profits or earnings with the poor people. Followers of Jesus Christ share more than their tithes with the needy (Read Acts chapter 2 and 3).

You are not allowed to accumulate wealth on earth, and you are not allowed to enrich pastors by building mega-churches but to share your wealth with the poor in your community.

4 Major Stages of Christian Discipleship

1. Stage of Decision Making

Not all Christians are disciples of Jesus Christ, so the first stage for you to become a Christian disciple is to make up your mind to follow Jesus Christ after you have counted the cost of discipleship.

It is a stage you set your mind to be a “Soldier of Christ” with a strong readiness to follow Jesus Christ and never to look back.

2. Stage of Research to Know God

Christian discipleship involves laying a strong spiritual foundation in Jesus Christ after surrendering everything about your life to the LORD.

This stage entails personal bible study from Genesis to Revelation and seeking the Holy Spirit to explain the mind of God related to the passages you read. For more than two decades I have been doing this stage and I am spiritually stronger every day despite the storms.

3. Stage of Yielding Fruits

This stage is consistent because Jesus Christ says by their fruits you shall know them. It is paramount that a Christian disciple obeys all the teachings of Jesus Christ everyday such that your attitude, speech and things you do are different from the unbelievers. Your fruits of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts you have will be profitable to people around you.

4. Stage of Evangelism

This is also a continuous stage because your output in stage 3 will make it easier for you to preach the Gospel of Salvation to people and unbelievers can see and learn from your lifestyle as a genuine follower of Jesus Christ. The core function of a Christian disciple is evangelism and sharing your wealth with the poor.

“Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”” (Matthew 19:21)

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

7 Quality Characteristics of Christian Disciple

1. They don’t trade the fear of GOD to satisfy anyone.

2. Their love for GOD is absolute and they hate worldliness.

3. Christian disciple seek the presence of GOD daily and detest sin.

4. Selfless service to the LORD is their priority and never eye-service.

5. Follower of Jesus Christ believes GOD only and can never be deceived by false doctrines.

6. The watch word of Christian discipleship is ‘Obey GOD and not your appetites’.

7. A Christian disciple worships the LORD and not any man or comfort of this world.

Examples of Christ Follower in the Bible

1. Peter and Andrew

“And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” (Matthew 4:18-20)

2. Zacchaeus

“Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” (Luke 19:8)

3. Young man who wants to bury father first.

“Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:59-60)

10 Benefits of Christian Discipleship

1. You will have a constant relationship with the Holy Spirit.

2. A Christian disciple wins souls for God’s kingdom.

3. Seeing GOD in His Glorious formation for your holy transformation.

4. Christian discipleship instill humility.

5. You cannot be spiritually deaf or blind, which is the current spiritual pandemic.

6. The spiritual training makes it easy for you to be righteous.

7. You cannot be deceived by science, witchcraft, false prophets, or the devil.

8. Christian disciples are blessed on earth and their greatest blessing is heavenly inheritance.

9. Spiritual victory is consistent.

10. A Christian disciple cannot be defeated by depression because they overcome tribulations through their spiritual strength.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ calls believers to be on track for Christian discipleship, so I encourage you to sustain your status as a Christian disciple.

Stop Celebrating Halloween? 10 Secrets Christians Must Know!

Stop Celebrating Halloween? 10 Secrets Christians Must Know!

Is it easy to stop celebrating Halloween, popularly accepted as a funny event? With pumpkin spice lattes, spooky decorations, and people dressed up as witches and vampires, but have you ever wondered if Christians should rethink their participation in this tradition? In this article, I will delve into the truth behind Halloween and explore why Christians should stop celebrating Halloween.

Origin of Celebrating Halloween

Halloween, also known as All Hallows’ Eve has a long and intriguing history that dates back thousands of years. Its origins can be traced to the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.

The Celtic believed that on the night of October 31st, the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred, and spirits could freely roam the earth.

The traditions associated with Samhain included lighting bonfires, wearing costumes to ward off evil spirits, and offering food and drink to appease the souls of the deceased. These practices were later incorporated into Halloween when the holiday spread to other parts of the world.

Over time, Halloween evolved into a secular celebration characterized by costumes, trick-or-treating, jack-o’-lanterns, haunted houses, and parties. While its origins may be rooted in pagan practices, many people today view Halloween as a harmless and fun-filled event.

However, the roots of celebrating Halloween are deeply connected to witchcraft, paganism, and the occult. As Christian, you must stop celebrating Halloween because of its idolatrous origins.

Many of the Halloween traditions we know today have their roots in ancient pagan rituals. For example, the practice of carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns originated from the Irish tradition of carving turnips and placing candles inside to scare away evil spirits.

Trick-or-treating, another popular Halloween activity, has ties to the medieval practice of “souling.” During this time, poor people would go door-to-door begging for food in exchange for prayers for the souls of the dead. Over time, this practice evolved into children going door-to-door asking for treats.

Do not be deceived by the popular messages in the church telling you that it is all about fun. As a child of GOD who worship HIM in spirit and truth, is it possible to separate the fun and frivolous aspects of Halloween from its historical and spiritual connotations?

5 Bible Verses that Stop Celebrating Halloween

I am displeased to see how the celebration of Halloween holiday becomes a controversial topic amongst Christians.

The Christian perspective on Halloween varies among different denominations and individuals. Some Christians view Halloween as harmless fun and an opportunity to engage with their communities. They argue that the holiday has lost much of its religious significance and has become more about costumes, candy, and parties.

On the other hand, some Christians believe that Halloween is inherently linked to witchcraft, paganism, and the occult. They see it as a celebration that promotes darkness and evil, and they choose not to participate in any Halloween-related activities.

We must not be ignorant of the Devil’s devices that were put in use to separate us. Since, our faith is attached to the word of GOD then we must respect the view of the LORD as regards idolatry practices mentioned in the scriptures below:

1. The LORD detest costumes (painting)

“And when you are plundered, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with crimson, though you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain you will make yourself fair; Your lovers will despise you; They will seek your life.” (Jeremiah 4:30)

2. GOD Warned Not to Reverence the Dead

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. “For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD…” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)

3. Witchcraft Practices is an Abomination

“A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones. Their blood shall be upon them.” (Leviticus 20:27)

4. Halloween Related Practices End in Hell

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

5. Not to Join Worldly Entertainment

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

Since there are no scriptures in the Bible that supports celebrating Halloween, then it is not a holy practice. Life is not neutral, if you participate in the event then you support idolatry. It is wise you stop celebrating Halloween because it is not pleasing to the LORD!

10 Spiritual Effects to Stop Celebrating Halloween and What You Should Do!

As Christians, it is essential you consider God’s perspective on Halloween. While the Bible does not specifically address Halloween, it does provide principles and guidance that can help shape your understanding.

1. Manifestation of Darkness

Halloween afflicts your spirit because often it includes themes of death, occult practices, and glorification of evil, which do not align with the values of light and truth that Christians are called to uphold.

The Bible encourages you to avoid participating in activities associated with darkness (Ephesians 5:11).

2. Mixing with the World

You must stop celebrating Halloween because it focuses on pagan rituals and secular traditions, and it blur the line between the values of the world and the values of God’s kingdom.

The Bible calls you to be set apart from the world (Romans 12:2).

3. Dishonoring God

Celebrating Halloween does not glorify God in your life, and it is offensive to the LORD.

Christians are called to honor and glorify God in all they do (1 Corinthians 10:31).

4. Lack of Discernment

Origin and symbolism of Halloween contradicts biblical principles, so it makes it easy for your spirit to be consistently tormented by spirits of Anti-Christ.

The Bible encourages you to practice discernment in all areas of life (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

5. Ineffective Evangelism

You must stop celebrating Halloween because it sends a mixed messages to non-believers about Christian faith and our values.

Christians are called to be a light to the world and to influence others positively (Matthew 5:14-16).

6. Not Prioritizing Love

Halloween can sometimes promote fear, violence, and selfishness, which are contrary to the love that Christians are called to demonstrate.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of love for God and others (Matthew 22:37-39).

7. Participation in Occult Practices

Celebration of Halloween gets you involved in occult practices directly or indirectly and your spirit would be controlled by the power of darkness.

The Bible strictly warns against engaging in occult practices, such as witchcraft, divination, and contacting spirits (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).

8. Maintaining Cold Spiritual Status

Encourage Christians to stop celebrating Halloween because it makes them to be spiritually two-faced!

Christians are called to protect their conscience and avoid participating in activities that may cause them to stumble or compromise their faith (QUOTE REVELATION ON LUKEWARM).

9. Focusing on Deceits

Halloween may offer ‘entertainment and enjoyment’, but it does not align with the righteousness of GOD.

The Bible encourages believers to focus on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable (Philippians 4:8).

10. Worldly Celebration that Sucks.

You must stop celebrating Halloween because the popular event does not edify you but disconnects your spirit from the presence of the Almighty GOD.

I encourage you to stop celebrating Halloween because it is obvious that the annual event can bewitch anyone, so I admonish you to study the Bible carefully and understand the voice of the Holy Spirit before you engage in any famous celebration in the world. The Devil is doing all his best to stain the Christians’ ‘white garment’.

Is Smoking a Sinful Habit for Christians?

Is Smoking a Sinful Habit for Christians?

Smoking becomes a sinful habit for the Christians when the outcome of the action does not portray righteousness and holiness.

I was tempted by my friends during high school to join in smoking cigarettes. Teenagers are the most sensitive to the mess of smoking.

Today’s message will explain the meaning of sin and the significance of smoking for Christians.

The printed bible we read does not contain all events as mentioned in John chapter 21 verse 25. So, it is dangerous for you to say you will do things not mentioned in the bible.

Sin is simply defined as a wrong action that is not pleasing to the LORD and not beneficial to humanity. If a wrong action is not specifically mentioned in GOD’s commandments in the bible, then does it translate to righteousness?

As we move from generation-to-generation new ‘advance’ sins spring up in our midst which are acceptable by the society, thus such sins won’t appear in the Bible, but the Holy Spirit is here to tell you how wrong they are.

Origin of Smoking

I read on the Wikipedia that the history of tobacco dates to as early as 5000–3000 BC, cultivated in Mesoamerica and South America; consumption later evolved into burning the plant substance.

The practice turned into shamanistic rituals. Ancient civilizations – such as the Babylonians, the Indians, and the Chinese – burnt incense during religious rituals.

Smoking in the Americas had its origins in the incense-burning ceremonies of shamans but was later adopted for pleasure.

Statistics of Smoking

It is in the news that with 1.3 billion smokers in the world nearly 5 trillion cigarettes are consumed each year, contributing to more than 8 million deaths and nearly US $2 trillion in economic damage. And it is pathetic that smoking among young teens ages 13-15 has increased in 63 countries.

Benefits of Smoking

1. The smoking of tobacco and various hallucinogenic drugs was used to achieve trances and to encounter the spirit world.

2. Earlier, the Eastern North American tribes often smoked tobacco in ceremonial pipes, either in sacred ceremonies or to seal bargains.

3. The combination of tobacco plants to other herbs is used for medicine, but smoking has become a social event to derive pleasure.

The benefits of smoking mentioned above by the smokers are occult and harmful to Christians.

Effects of Smoking to the Body

The deadly effect of smoking erodes the idolatry and pleasure derived from smoking:

1. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

2. Causes several types and subtypes of cancers (particularly lung cancer, cancers of the oropharynx, mouth cancer etc.).

3. Tobacco smoking is the leading cause of preventable death.

4. It causes diabetes.

5. Smoking also increases the risk of tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems with the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.

God’s View About Smoking

1. The origin of smoking was for idolatry purposes. GOD detests idolatry.

“You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.” (Deuteronomy 12:31)

2. Smoking is a social event for deriving pleasure. It does not correlate with the kind of pleasure the LORD wants for us.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)

3. The medicinal abuse of the tobacco plant is synonymous with the abuse of alcohol too.

4. The terrible side effects of smoking on your body will never be a joy to the LORD who created you.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)

5. Smoking invites demons into you while it chases away the Spirit of GOD.

7 Powerful Ways to Stop Smoking

1. Do not imitate pastors who smoke because the LORD told me that anointing is different from salvation.

2. Surrender your entire life to the LORD and be ready for godly spiritual discipline.

3. Smoking is an addiction that can be stopped by your determination to obey the Holy Spirit all the time.

4. Read the whole bible with the determination to know more about the LORD you surrender your life to.

5. When the push to smoke comes then pick up your cell phone to talk to a servant of GOD about it.

6. Stay away from your old friends and always chat with good Christians who can help you.

7. Fasting and prayer is a strong spiritual exercise that yields miracle. Denying yourself a stick of cigar is fasting, then do not joke with your sincere prayers to the LORD and you will surely have your deliverance.

Smoking is a sin because it is a wrong concept and not beneficial to you and your neighbors. It separates you from the presence of GOD and exposes you to demonic influences. Tobacco and other smoking substances cause cancer and premature death which are not GOD’s plan for your life.

Overcome Poverty! 7 Ways for Christians to Never Be Poor

Overcome Poverty! 7 Ways for Christians to Never Be Poor

To be poor may not be a sin but to overcome poverty must be the task of all Christians because poverty means lack of resources to survive a good life. Are you going through a tough time despite your faith in the LORD? I was once wretched but now I have overcome poverty through the teachings of the Holy Spirit. Today’s message will expose you to the secrets of poverty and how to pull it out.

5 Main Causes of Poverty

1. Selfish Leaders

When the government officials are selfish leaders which leads to oppression of the people through multiple taxes etc. Then the level of poverty will rise in the land where there is corruption and embezzlement of public funds. (James 5:1-4)

2. Laziness

It was my generation that youths refused to be hardworking and wanted to be rich very fast, so there are many ‘pastors’ whom God did not anoint in many churches springing up because members must pay tithes and offerings to feed the ‘lazy pastors’ who refused to work.

If you love too much sleep and don’t want to work, then poverty won’t leave.

“…to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12)

3. Environmental Disaster

Earthquakes, pandemics, harsh weather crises destroying cities and war can go a long way to distorting business settings making a lot of people in the rich or comfortable zone slide towards poverty line.

4. Persecution of Christians

This cause of poverty is always temporary, and Jesus Christ told us not to be weary. It’s a trial that won’t last forever and you will come out strong when you maintain your faithfulness to the LORD.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

5. Spiritual Attack

Devil’s devices that can cause poverty include; gambling, partying, clubbing, sexual immoralities, money rituals, love for money, covetousness, cheats and stealing.

7 Ways to Overcome Poverty as a Christian

1. Start Intense Bible Studies

The first step for you to overcome poverty is to study the Bible yourself through the help of the Holy Spirit. Read with a humble open mind to understand God’s teaching about poverty and wealth.

2. Readiness for Spiritual Discipline

Having read the Bible, the next step is obedience to all the instructions of the LORD. Don’t be carried away by the ‘sweetness’ in worldliness. God’s way to overcome poverty is unpopular but it is the best for you.

3. Stay Away from Sin

Sin in your life gives the Devil the opportunity to sow seeds of poverty! You cannot continue sinning and expect the LORD to bless your investments. Don’t be deceived by those false pastors telling you that God does not care about how you use your body.

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” (Romans 6:1-2)

4. Take Righteous Steps

Don’t look for shortcuts to wealth because dubious steps cannot help you overcome poverty. I tried it previously and my ‘fingers got burnt’ and I narrowly escaped committing suicide. Despite living in a corrupt society, if you obey the business strategies of the LORD just like Isaac then you can also become wealthy.

5. Contentment is the Key

Always make yourself comfortable with the daily provisions of the LORD. Don’t try to compare yourself to your next neighbor. Wealth has no limit so you can’t have all the money in the world.

Don’t rush to overcome poverty so take a step at a time as directed by the LORD. I chose to be peaceful when I realized that the richest man on earth still feels insecure and incomplete sometimes.

6. Always Give to the Poor

You might think you are poor but there are millions of people poorer than you. I completely overcome poverty when I obey the instructions of the LORD about giving to the needy.

We are not in the Old Testament era of one-tenth, that is the reason many pastors are very rich and the church members donating tithes are struggling to survive.

Don’t give tithes but give as much as you can to the needy around you and see how the LORD will reward you greatly.

The Apostles of Jesus Christ understood the tactics of blessings and never asked for tithe donation:

“Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.” (Acts 2:44-45)

How I wish all pastors will follow this apostolic practice, poverty will never exist in the Christendom.

7. You Get what You See

You will overcome poverty when you have a positive mindset that you will be successful even during harsh economy. Your faithfulness to the LORD every day is essential because your human brain cannot handle all situations.

Faith in the LORD is a powerful tool that will accompany your hard work and investment which will yield miraculous harvest of abundance for you.

When you overcome poverty through God’s method then you will be rich on earth, and it won’t hinder your heavenly wealth as well. Stay away from sinful lifestyle, slothfulness, and false belief. Come to the LORD with a serious heart, work and live a holy life and the LORD will bring a wonderful turnaround of great wealth for you in Jesus’ name.
