The Secret of Spiritual Discipline for a Christian life!

The Secret of Spiritual Discipline for a Christian life!

Spiritual discipline for Christians means giving everything about yourself to GOD to train you on how to live a holy life and the readiness to be chastised when you disobey the rules.

It is not a news that the brevity and victory of the army in any war is directly related to the training they received on camp. And the athletes that win gold medals after a tough competition went through strict disciplines by their coaches.

Today’s message would explain the significance of spiritual discipline and the best choice for you.

Why do You Need Spiritual Discipline?

Many Christians tried to avoid the spiritual training because of the pains related to it and when they face the storm of life, it becomes a disaster to their faith.

It is good to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour but that is not all about the Christian race to heaven. You also need the spiritual training from the Holy Spirit to make you a strong energetic Christian to the end of the race.

The parable of Jesus recorded in the book of Mark chapter 4 made it clear that there is more training to do after joining the Christendom:

“…Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow… Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth…some seed fell among thorns; the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop…

“And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts… and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.

“Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

7 Major Benefits of Spiritual Discipline include:

1. Acquisition of Divine Power.

2. Your spirit being would be strong enough to wrestle and win.

3. It becomes impossible for your body to move into sin.

4. You’ll find it easier to see and hear from the LORD.

5. Devil cannot steal your joy even during the hard times.

6. You treasure in Heaven is enormous than the richest sinner on earth.

7. Steady victory over unavoidable daily temptations.

Spiritual Growth: 10 Steps, Signs and its Benefits to Christians!

Spiritual Growth: 10 Steps, Signs and its Benefits to Christians!

Spiritual growth is a progressive process that improves your spirit and soul from alienation status to a level of close relationship with GOD making it easier for you to represent Him in the public.

My interrogation with a small group of Christians shows that 70% taught confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is all about Christianity while 60% are not ready for the discipline associated with the spiritual growth.

Today’s message explains the importance of spiritual growth and the best ways to attain the glorious status.

5 Major Benefits of Spiritual Growth

1. Easier to know GOD deeply more than how anyone can describe Him to you.

2. You acquire great authority that silence any noise from the demons or the Devil.

3. Your spiritual strength and maturity make it easy for you to trek the rough road to heaven.

4. You won’t become lukewarm, Agnostic or Atheist in the future when the storm of life hits you.

5. Not only the power of the LORD but also peace and mercy would be your companion all the days of your life.

10 Steps to Spiritual Growth of a Genuine Christian

You’ll become a Christian when; you confess that Jesus Christ is your saviour, confess your sins to the LORD and take a bold step to repent from the iniquities through His grace and mercy.

So, the next stage is the growth of your spirit-man from spiritual infancy to maturity. The following are practical steps that can help you develop your spiritual being:

1. Change Your Mind-Set

Your orientation about the world must change. Take a firm decision that you are of the LORD and not for the things of this world anymore.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (1 JOHN 2: 15-17)

2. Separate to Reunite

Relationship with unbelievers or non-genuine Christians may be toxic to your growth. So, separate yourself from bad influences and make friends with God-fearing people. Your faithfulness to the LORD is non-negotiable!

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

3. Start a Prayerful Life

Learn to pray audibly when you are in your private place and silently in your heart when in public. If you devote more time for prayers, then you would receive more spiritual strength from the LORD. Always pray in the morning, afternoon and night.

4. Fast and not Hunger Strike

The major benefit of fasting is to avoid distractions of necessity such as; cooking, eating, thoughts about wears, money, social gatherings etc. Don’t fast if you won’t be in an environment that allows constant prayers. Learn from Moses, Elijah and Jesus Christ.

5. Eat Up Your Bible

You must intensify the act of Bible Study. Read and understand the Scriptures under the influence of the Holy Spirit. I always write notes because the Spirit of the LORD interprets the scriptures to me accurately.

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guides you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” (John 16:13)

6. Constant Meditation

You cannot have a spiritual growth if the word of GOD did not reform your soul. Meditating the Word of GOD means digesting the scriptures you read. Always find a quiet place every day to meditate the scriptures.

7. Practice with the Sword

After meditation then the next step is practicing the holy acts. Set a strong determination in your heart that your life is all about obedience to the word of GOD and nothing else can change it.

8. Dig Out Your Talents

I discovered that when I use the spiritual gifts given to me by the LORD, my spiritual growth becomes conspicuous! So, always use your talents to make positive impacts in the lives of people.

9. Praise and Worship GOD

If you want to grow spiritually then do not joke with regular praise and worship to GOD Almighty!

10. Endure the Pains

The more you overcome trials then the stronger your spiritual growth.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

6. Cast away the spirit of pride in me and give me your humble Spirit.

7. Help my unbelief and make my ear deaf to the devil’s whisper in Jesus’ name.

Habitual Sin: 10 Best Ways to Overcome Customary Sin!

Habitual Sin: 10 Best Ways to Overcome Customary Sin!

Habitual sin means a specific transgression that seems to be impossible to stop! A customary sin is common among people who prefer to get happiness from the usual sin than to patiently wait on to the LORD for eternal joy.

Are you going through some tough situations to stop a habitual sin in your life and you gave up? Hope you did not negotiate with the LORD by giving money to the church so that He can overlook your customary sin?

Or did you resolve to believe the false teaching that the grace through Jesus Christ endorses your wonting sin? I suffered so much from customary sin but I thank God for setting me free from the ‘sweet evil’.

Today’s message explains the danger and the practical steps that would give you permanent freedom from habitual sin.

Examples of Habitual Transgression

It is always one or two sins that you cannot let go and you decide to justify your habitual sin through excuses and misconception of some Bible passages. Examples of wonting sin is not limited to the list below:

1. Swindling people for the propagation of the gospel or selfishness

2. Lies; either the white or black one

3. Lust

4. Love of money

5. Watching erotic movies or flipping through the porn materials

6. Drunkenness

7. Drugs

8. Delights in masturbation

9. Destructive anger

10. Pride etc.

Does God Forgive Habitual Sin?

GOD cannot be mocked! A dedicated child of GOD cannot be holy now and joyfully become unholy in the next moment.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians 6:7-8)

Someone with a habitual sin repeats the transgression often without remorse for enjoyment or to achieve a selfish outcome.

Yes! The LORD is ready to forgive if you confess and repent from your habitual sin. But a Christian with habitual sin is likened to a lukewarm person. Listen to God’s statement in the book of Revelation chapter 3 verse 15 and 16:

I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”

Please, don’t forget that GOD tests the heart of the sinner who asks for forgiveness, if He tests your heart and noticed you have intention to repeat the same sin tomorrow, He won’t fall into your deceit!

Job and King David were aware of this secret act of the LORD, so I want you to take this point seriously:

“You have tested my heart; and had visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.” (Psalm 17:3)

The LORD loves you and He is ready to give you perfect freedom from sin if and only if you would give Him all your heart and strength.

“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38)

Ten Bible Verses About Customary Sin

Habitual sin is so terrible that if you are not careful it blindfolds your eyes to see the revelation of righteousness because the Devil won’t stop deceiving you that since you are a Christian you would automatically gain heaven despite your habitual sin.

The Devil deceived me but I thank God that I was not dead before knowing the truth that Satan can speak to you like a loving Holy Spirit.

Some Bible verses that discourage habitual transgression include:

1. Romans chapter 12 verse 1 and 2

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

2. Hebrew chapter 6 verse 4 to 6

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come.

If they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.”

3. Hebrew chapter 9 verse 27

“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”

4. Colossians chapter 1 verse 21 and 22

“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.”

5. First Thessalonians chapter 4 verse 3 to 5

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God.”

6. First Peter chapter 1 verse 13 and 14

“Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance.”

7. First John chapter 2 verse 15 to 16

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world.”

8. Romans chapter 6 verse 16

“Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?”

9. Matthew chapter 6 verse 24

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

10. James chapter 4 verse 4

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

10 Side-Effects of Habitual Sin
