7 Deadly Sins: How Christians Can Avoid the Mess!

7 Deadly Sins: How Christians Can Avoid the Mess!

The seven deadly sins are set of behaviours that are considered to be particularly harmful to your spiritual and moral well-being with the LORD. In this sermon, I will explore each of the seven deadly sins and provide tips on how to avoid falling into the traps.

Proverbs chapter 6 verse 16 to 19 says:

“These six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood.

A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil.

A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.”

Why Are They Called “Deadly Sins”?

The seven deadly sins, also referred to as capital sins or cardinal sins, are believed to be the foundation of all other sins. These transgressions are considered to be the most dangerous to our spiritual growth and can lead to committing other immoral acts.

The seven deadly sins include pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth, and committing any of these sins can ultimately lead to the destruction of the soul.

The concept of the seven deadly sins has been around for centuries, with roots in early Christian theology. These sins are considered “deadly” because they can lead to spiritual death, separating us from our connection to God.

According to theologian Evagrius, our purpose as spiritual beings is to seek union with God, but indulging in these sins can sever that connection and prevent us from experiencing divine grace.

How to Overcome the 7 Deadly Sins

1. Pride: Practice Humility and Acknowledge Your Limitations

Pride is often considered the most dangerous of the seven deadly sins, as it can lead to arrogance, selfishness, and a lack of empathy for others. To avoid falling into the deadly sins of pride, it’s important to practice humility and acknowledge your limitations.

Recognize the fact that you don’t know everything and that you can learn from others. Be open to feedback and constructive criticism, and strive to be a team player rather than always seeking the spotlight. By practicing humility, the Holy Spirit will be your Counsellor and you can build stronger relationships with those around you.

2. Envy: Focus on Your Own Goals and Accomplishments instead of comparing yourself to others

Envy can make you have a lying tongue, leading to feelings of resentment and bitterness towards others. To avoid falling into the deadly sins of envy, it’s important to focus on your own spiritual and physical goals and accomplishments instead of constantly comparing yourself to others.

Remember that everyone has their own unique journey and path in life, and that success looks different for everyone. Instead of feeling envious of other faithful Christians, use their success as inspiration and motivation to work towards your goals.

Always praise GOD for your accomplishments and being happy about your progress, rather than constantly seeking validation from believers or unbelievers. By focusing on the power of Jesus Christ as you progress on your journey and spiritual growth, you can avoid the negative effects of envy and cultivate a more positive and fulfilling life.

3. Wrath: Learn to Manage Your Anger and Communicate Effectively

Anger is a natural emotion that everyone experiences from time to time, but when it becomes uncontrollable and destructive, it can lead to serious problems, such as shedding innocent blood.

To avoid falling into the deadly sins of wrath, it’s important to learn how to manage your anger and communicate effectively with others. This means taking a step back and assessing the situation before reacting, listening to the response of the Spirit of the LORD in you, and expressing your feelings in a calm and respectful manner.

It’s also important to listen actively to others and try to understand their perspective, rather than immediately becoming defensive or aggressive. By learning to manage your anger and communicate effectively, you can avoid damaging relationships and cultivate more positive and productive interactions with others.

4. Greed: Cultivate Generosity and Gratitude.

Greed is the desire for more and more material possessions, often at the expense of others. To avoid falling into the deadly sins of greed, it’s important to cultivate generosity and gratitude.

This means focusing on what you have, rather than what you lack, and being willing to share your resources with others. You can also practice gratitude by regularly reflecting on the things in your life that you are thankful for.

5. Gluttony: Practice Moderation in all Areas of Your Life.

Gluttony is the excessive consumption of food, drink, drugs or other substances. To avoid the deadly sins of gluttony, it’s important to practice moderation in all areas of your life.

This means not only watching what you eat and drink, but also being mindful of how much time and energy you devote to other activities. It’s okay to indulge in your favourite foods or activities occasionally, but it’s important to maintain balance and not let them consume your life.

By practicing moderation, you can avoid the negative consequences of gluttony and live a healthier, more balanced life.

6. Sloth: Live a Life of Work Plus Faith in the LORD

One of the seven deadly sins is sloth, which is characterized as spiritual laziness, and a tendency towards inactivity, frivolity and neglecting to do good, such as a heart that devises wicked plans. Lazy people won’t hesitate to bear false witness and they are experts in the act of lies.

You can overcome slothfulness by reading the bible daily, practicing the commandments of the LORD, getting your hands busy and be a faithful Christian.

7. Lust: Always be Conscious of the Presence of GOD in You

Lust is a deadly sin I have suffered from in the past but I am glad the Spirit of the LORD set me free. Unclean sexual desires can destroy you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Lust is a strong weapon of the Devil to crush people to hell!

The best step that gives me victory which can also work for you is to set your mind to have the consciousness that your body belongs to the LORD. Whenever lustful thought fills your heart don’t give-in but ask yourself; what will Jesus Christ do in this situation?

So, always obey the commandment that tells you to flee from temptation. Take your eyes away from seduction and always remember that the Blood of Jesus Christ is so powerful to wash your dirty mind.

First Corinthians chapter 6 verses 18 and 19 says: “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

Finally, the LORD can forgive you any of the seven deadly sins above. HE told me to go and preach to the world that whosoever is ready to follow His will shall be forgiven no matter how big the sins committed. And the LORD says: “Peace and Mercy will be with those that obey the rules…the rules of holiness!”

10 Commandments of God: A Guide to Living a Righteous Life

10 Commandments of God: A Guide to Living a Righteous Life

Discover the divine principles that guide a righteous life with the 10 Commandments of God. This guide will help you live a life of purpose and holiness.

The 10 Commandments of God are a set of divine principles that have guided Christians for centuries. I have discovered that the commandments provide a moral compass for living a righteous life and offer guidance on how to treat others and honour God. By following these commandments, you can have the right status in God’s presence.

Why did God give the Ten Commandments?

The Ten Commandments are a set of moral and religious laws given by God to the ancient nation of Israel as part of the Mosaic Law. This Law code included over 600 commandments and formed a covenant between God and the Israelites.

The Law was intended to guide the Israelites in their daily lives and prepare them for the coming of the promised Messiah, or Christ. While God promised prosperity to those who obeyed the laws, its ultimate purpose was to lead the Israelites to salvation through faith in Christ.

Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfil.” (Matthew 5:17)

Is the Ten Commandments for Christians or the Jews?

The Ten Commandments were given by God to the Israelites. However, this law is embedded in the revised law Jesus Christ presented to us. This law includes all of Jesus’ teachings and instructions for his followers, as outlined in the New Testament.

“Please, don’t fall into the deceit of false preachers who said that you are not under the law so you can behave anyhow you want provided you are a Christian and donate to the church.”

Such false teachers misuse the statement of Paul in his letters. When Paul wrote to the Gentiles that they are not under the law, he meant they are no more under the mosaic laws related to sacrifices and cultural laws. Did you know that despite Paul’s preaching against the laws, he obeyed the same laws when he travelled back to Jerusalem? Acts chapter 21.

So, disobeying the ten commandments recorded in the book of Exodus chapter 20 is not a safe practice for anyone either Christians or Jews.

The Ten Commandments of God and their Significance

1. You shall have no other gods before Me

This commandment is the first and most important of the 10 Commandments of God. It reminds you that you should worship and honour only one God, and not put any other gods or idols before Him.

This means that you should not worship money, power, or material possessions above God. By putting God first in your life, you can find true fulfilment and purpose.

2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth

This commandment of God reminds me that I should not create or worship any physical representations of God or any other deity. It is a reminder that God is beyond human comprehension and cannot be fully represented by any physical object.

This commandment also warns against idolizing material possessions or putting too much importance on physical appearances. Instead, we should focus on cultivating a strong relationship with God and living a life of righteousness.

It’s so strange to me that Catholics exclude this second commandment and their doctrines contradict this God’s commandment.

3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain

This commandment reminds you to treat God’s name with respect and reverence. It is a reminder that God’s name is sacred and should not be used in a disrespectful or frivolous manner.

This includes using God’s name as a curse word or in a way that is meant to deceive or manipulate others. Instead, we should use God’s name in prayer, worship, and in a way that honours and glorifies Him.

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy

The fourth commandment of God instructs us to set aside the seventh day of the week as a day of rest and worship. This day is known as the Sabbath Saturday.

It is a time to focus on spiritual renewal, spending time with family and friends, and taking a break from the demands of work and daily life.

By honouring the Sabbath, we show our commitment to God and prioritize our spiritual well-being.

5. Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you

The fifth commandment is a reminder to honour and respect your parents. This includes not only biological parents but also those who have acted as parental figures in your lives.

By showing gratitude and respect towards your parents, you acknowledge the sacrifices they have made for you and the love they have shown you throughout your life. This commandment also teaches you the importance of family and the role it plays in shaping your life.

6. You shall not murder

God dislike killings related to abuse of power, envy or hatred. However, this commandment does not hinder you ‘dropping’ your enemies who wage war against you with deadly weapons. God supports ‘holy war’ (you can read about the journey of the Israelites to their promise land) but it is an abomination to the LORD when you kill an unarmed, innocent or helpless person.

7. You shall not commit adultery

This seventh commandment of God is meant to discourage infidelity and promote faithfulness in marriage and relationships. It is painful that this generation has no regards for this rule. Sexual sins amongst married couples are popular in the society leading to multitude of abominations in the land!

8. You shall not steal

This commandment of God is for you to respect the property and possessions of others and to refrain from taking what does not belong to you without permission.

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour

This means that you should not lie or give false testimony about someone else, as it can harm their reputation and cause them unjust harm. It is important to always speak truthfully and with integrity, even when it may be difficult or uncomfortable.

10. You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s.

Are the Ten Commandments of God useful for Christians today?

The Ten Commandments of God are considered to be a fundamental part of God’s teachings and are still relevant today. By studying them, you can gain insight into God’s thinking and benefit from the reliable principles they are based on.

These principles are timeless and can be found underlying the teachings of the New Testament as well. Therefore, it is important to understand and follow the commandments of God.

According to Jesus Christ, the most important commandments given by God are to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbours as ourselves.

These two commandments are the foundation of the entire Mosaic Law, including the ten commandments. While Christians are not required to follow the Mosaic Law, we are still commanded to show love and compassion towards God and our fellow human beings.

I took the ten commandments of God seriously many years ago when I turned away from the devil to follow Jesus Christ and the obedience really strengthened my relationship with the LORD till today.

Are God’s Ten commandments tough to obey?

The commandments of God are not just a set of rules to follow, but a reflection of His goodness and love for you. By obeying these commandments, you show your devotion to Him and your willingness to live a life that honours His teachings.

It is not the commandments that are evil, but you can go astray due to your own power of choice you execute in every decision you make. Ultimately, it is through following God’s commandments that you can find true happiness and fulfilment in life.

I encourage you to obey the ten commandments of God and you will never regret doing so because your Christian lifestyle would be authentic!

Christian Spiritual Struggle; 10 Ways to Overcome Spiritual Stress!

Christian Spiritual Struggle; 10 Ways to Overcome Spiritual Stress!

Christian spiritual struggle means the stressful circumstances encountered by Christians on their spiritual journey with the LORD. All Christians will go through spiritual struggles but thank GOD for the availability of HIS Power that gives victory at the end.

“…strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God…”” (Acts 14:22)

If you are going through a Christian spiritual struggle and you are tired and fed up then today’s message will help you to regain your strength and give you victory in Jesus’ name.

3 Categories of Christian Spiritual Struggle

1. Struggles with the Commandments of the LORD

2. Wrestling with your Self – the carnal nature

3. Tussle with things of this world including people around you

6 Causes of Spiritual Struggles for Christians

1. The LORD wants you to be under HIS rules and regulations.

2. The Devil entices you every day to enjoy his sinful and ‘beautiful’ styles.

3. You are solely responsible for your power of choice.

4. The LORD does not abuse HIS Power on you.

5. The Almighty GOD and the Devil cannot stay together in your heart.

6. You want to enjoy this world but you don’t want to miss Heaven!

7 Signs of Christian Spiritual Tussle

1. You get confused!

2. Not interested doing anything by giving excuses

3. Want to sit on fence by misconception of the Bible

4. Depression

5. Your faith in the LORD starts dropping

6. Emotional imbalance

7. Going through suffering of different forms

10 Ways to Overcome Christian Spiritual Struggle

1. Be Hopeful that you’ll come out strong

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

2. Your strong and steady faith in the LORD is the master key you need

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.” (1John 5:4)

3. Let the world hates you and dislike things of the world too

“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” (John 15:19-21)

4. Have the understanding that to live godly in Christ you will suffer persecution

“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12)

5. Endure the spiritual struggles and fight with force because there is a crown for you

If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.” (2 Timothy 2:12)

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” (Matthew 11:12)

6. Always ask the LORD to dwell in your mind every day

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1John 4:4)

7. Don’t allow the fear to consume you!

“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”” (1 Peter 3:14)

8. Be spiritually minded

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” (Galatians 5:16-17)

9. Christian spiritual struggle cannot be overcome without prayers

Don’t kneel down and start complaining to the LORD. When I found myself in tussles I kneel down and acknowledge the Greatness of the LORD through praise and worship and I receive miracles and victory.

10. Read and meditate the word of GOD every day

The secret of your victory can be discovered in the word of GOD recorded in the Bible. No pastor or prophet have the solution to your spiritual stress so don’t be duped! If you read the Bible with a disciplined heart then the Holy Spirit will communicate to you.

Christian spiritual struggle is not a strange event but it is a circumstance you must overcome through the power from the LORD. Many great men of GOD including Jesus Christ went through spiritual tussles but they overcome by faith and the obedience to the commandments of GOD.

So, I ask you to go through the ten points above and obey them. You would surely share testimonies!

Is Satan in Hell Enjoying, Suffering or Tormenting the Dead?

Is Satan in Hell Enjoying, Suffering or Tormenting the Dead?

Many artworks and doctrines of men mislead us from the truth about Satan, hell and dead souls. Satan in hell is erroneous and untruthful!

Today’s message would explain to you the true facts about the current place of the Devil and the controller of hell.

I grew up to see many pictures portraying Satan tormenting the dead. I read many books of authors who claimed to have visited the hell in vision and saw Satan enjoying the torment of the dead souls. But I thank the LORD who gave me the right understanding about this topic.

To avoid bias and confusion, all my points are restricted to the reference of Jesus Christ our great Teacher.

Jesus Christ did not Say Satan in Hell Enjoying

I want you to please patiently read this passage narrated by Jesus Christ below:

“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores.”

“So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.”

“And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us…” (Luke 16:19-31)

Brief Description of Hell

With respect to the passage above:

1. There are some angels whose duty is to usher dead souls to their next place of existence, so, no silence for your soul when you die.

2. In the world of the dead there are two sections; hell/hades where there are torments and the other side where there is comfort.

3. Dead souls are not blind or deaf and not without feeling!

4. Prayers are made in hell but can never be answered.

5. There is a great architectural job done by the LORD that separate the torment zone from the comfort zone.

6. Devil’s name was not mentioned by the rich man. Since drop of water was not given to him, he would have prayed to Abraham to appeal to Satan to reduce his torments.

So, Satan in hell is not established in the passage above.

Where is the Location of Hell?

Please, I would advise you not to be too inquisitive about the location of hell because it has no physical or spiritual benefit for you. Hell is not a fiction but a real existence best known to the LORD of all Creations.

Many prophets give a downward position for hell and not upward heavenly position. Since Jesus Christ did not give us the geographical location of hell or paradise then we should care less about the place because it is impossible for a man to visit for holiday or excursion.

Satan in Hell Tormenting the Dead Not Real!

Many movies we watch and books we read about the devil and hell are deception. Let’s go through the authentic information below:

1. Satan moves from one place to another on earth.

“And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So, Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” (Job 1:7)

2. The Devil was chased out of Heaven to earth and not to hell.

“…Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time. Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child…” (Revelation 12:12-13)

3. Satan too busy on earth (not in hell) tempting and deceiving people.

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” (Matthew 4:1)

4. Devil was not among the fallen angels bounded in hell, so no business for him there.

“For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment.” (2 Peter 2:4)

No matter the number of messages you must have heard either in your church or anywhere that contradicts the truth above must be disregarded. My Pastors previously preached the heresy and I have also preached it before because I thought my pastor was correct until I study the Bible with the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

So, the four points above are powerful and please do not find it impossible to change a long-time believe that Satan in hell enjoying and tormenting souls. The Devil is not in hell yet with respect to the expository bible verses above!

Who Controls the Hell Fire?

It might interest you to know that the Almighty LORD is the Supreme Controller of hell fire. Satan is not in hell because his time have not come. For instance, you hear some demons telling Jesus that their time is not yet up and He shouldn’t cast them to hell – Matthew chapter 8 verse 29.

1. The LORD designed the place of dead such that the souls of saints and sinners are not mixed together but well separated as mentioned by Abraham. (Luke chapter 16)

2. The rich man’s response gave us the understanding that only dead sinners suffer hot punishment in hell and it is difficult for saints like Abraham to help them.

3. GOD created all the tormenting agents and phenomenon in hell. Devil who was also GOD’s creation did not have the authority.

4. Satan can kill the body but does not have the power to send any soul to hell, only the LORD can do such!

Jesus Christ says: “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)

Don’t be deceived by the brilliant motivational speakers who tells you that GOD cannot be so wicked to throw sinners into hell fire. Note that GOD can never be blackmailed.

The LORD made it clear that those who disobey His instructions would be cast to hell (Matthew 7:21…). For instance, if you disobey the law of the land, are you not seriously dealt with by the law of the land? So, when the LORD said that He would throw all sinners to hell/lake of fire, then some deceitful scholars told you He is a loving GOD He cannot do that you better watch your back…!

The Final Place for the Devil

After Satan’s roaming from one end of the earth to another busy deceiving many people so that he could have many souls with him in eternal condemnation, he would be cast into the lake of fire. Hell, and every soul in it would also end up in the lake of fire.

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”

“The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.”

“Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:10-15)

Finally, the revelations of Jesus Christ in today’s message shows that Satan in hell enjoying is untrue. Please, make sure you don’t fall into the deceits of the Devil by studying the Bible always and remain spiritually alert.

Father, I pray you continue to expose the secrets of the Devil to us and save us from falling because lake of fire is not your plan for us. So, help us in Jesus name. Amen.
