Peace is scarce in the world because the number of people enjoying peaceful mind is small. According to the authors of Global Peace Index 2016, the world is becoming a more dangerous place and there are just ten countries which can be considered free from conflict.
The worsening conflict in the middle east, the lack of a solution to the refugee crisis and an increase in deaths from major terrorist incidents have all contributed to the world being less peaceful in 2016 than it was in 2015.
Today’s message will show you the original source of peace in the midst of a conflicting world.
10 Ways to obtain Peace
1. Forgive those that sin against you
Grudge or malice produces unrest to your mind, while the act of forgiveness is a soothing ointment to your wounded heart. If you always forgive your offenders, then you will enjoy peace in your life.
Matthew chapter 18 verse 21 and 22 says: “Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times? Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”
2. Be a Salty Person
Always do your best to be a Peacemaker wherever you find yourself.
Mark chapter 9 verse 50 says: “Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavour, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”
3. Don’t Curse Yourself
Be hopeful when life is tough, and peace will take good care of your heart. When you go through hard times, don’t curse yourself and don’t abuse God. Peace does not stay with an abusive person.
Matthew chapter 5 verses 44 says: “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
4. Stay away from Witchcraft
The peace that comes from the spirit of darkness is not sustainable! I fell into this trap before I met Jesus Christ. Devil stole my joy and gave me a restless heart. There is no peace in the kingdom of Satan, stay away from Satanism!
5. Terminate Sinful activities
Peace cannot reign where there is active sin. Fear and sin are teammate and they work together to destroy the soul of people. If you want genuine peace, then live a holy lifestyle as described by Jesus Christ.
Jesus says: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
6. Cut your Coat according to your Cloth
Peace is for those that acknowledge contentment. Learn to be satisfied with the available resources you have. Don’t bind yourself with loan when you are not sure of the outcome. Live a simple life and you will enjoy peace than the rich who is never satisfied.
“So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.” (Luke 18:22-23)
Note: No amount of money or wealth can satisfy human being, so take it easy.
7. Who are your friends?
The group of people around you can also determine the status of peace in your life. If you want peace, then mix with people who love to share the Bible with you, lovers of Jesus Christ and haters of worldliness.
Hebrew chapter 12 verse 14 says: “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”
8. Accept Jehovah with all Your Heart
God, whose name is Peace can make you enjoy peace in every circumstance of life if you allow Him to control your mind. Give your heart to Jesus, because He is the Prince of Peace.
John chapter 14 verses 27 say: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
9. Good Gospel Songs
I enjoy peace in my heart when I listen to godly inspirational tunes. Such songs could lift up your heavy heart to the peaceful presence of the LORD.
10. Be anxious for nothing
Train your heart to take this life easy. You will enjoy peace if your speed to achieve things on earth is not higher than the speed of God.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
